Saint Ignatius College Prep invites applications for a full-time Dean of Students. The Dean of Students is responsible for the general good order and discipline of the school, the maintenance of attendance records, the supervision of student health services and safety.
The Dean of Students reports to the Prefect of Studies.
Job Summary:
Ensuring the good order of the school day, the summer sessions, and the good order of school events by working with moderators and supervising events, as needed and when expected.
Preparing and enforcing the regulations governing student appearance and conduct.
Interpreting the disciplinary policies for students, faculty, and parents.
Supervising, evaluating, and participating in the hiring of the School Nurse, Deans' Administrative Assistant, and Dean's Office support staff, including supervising and evaluating the policies, programs, and procedures for which they are responsible.
Assisting the School Nurse with ill students and emergencies.
Collaborating with school counselors, the learning specialist, therapist and other administrators to help care for the overall health of students.
Creating the prefecting schedule for necessary designated spaces during free and lunch periods; prefecting during lunch periods, maintaining order, and supervising clean up; supervising other prefects.
Determining the appropriate sanctions for student violations of discipline policies and assigning demerits for detentions, suspensions, disciplinary probation, dismissals, etc. in cooperation with school administration; maintaining disciplinary records.
Monitoring after-school detentions and coordinating the monitoring of Saturday detentions.
Overseeing the production of the daily attendance records showing absences and tardies.
Facilitating and overseeing communication to students, parents, and counselors when a student is past a certain threshold.
Leading the School Crisis Team; participating in various director level meetings.
Coordinating, convening, and chairing the Discipline Board, when needed.
Coordinating and conducting tornado drills, emergency evacuation drills, and lockdown drills.
Leading and collaborating in the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) accreditation review; collaborating with the Prefects' Offices and Department of Formation and Ministry during the Cognia (formerly AdvancEd) or other Accreditation Processes and the Province (UMI) Sponsorship Review cycles.
Participating, as appropriate, in JSN and other professional development programs.
Leading the revision process and all revisions of the Parent-Student Handbook in cooperation with school administration and other department directors.
Supervising and attending major after-school and weekend activities (including all home football and basketball games), as assigned.
Qualifications:
Evidence of ability and commitment to furthering the Jesuit, Catholic mission and identity of the school
Evidence of strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
Teaching or school counseling, administrative, and supervisory experience
Master's Degree preferred or must be earned within two years, if not held at the date of hiring
Practicing Roman Catholic, preferred

Additional Information:
This is a salaried full-time (12-month) in person staff position with occasional evening events throughout the year
Employees are expected to work as many hours as their job responsibilities require, which includes evenings and weekends at times.

Salary Range: $80,000-$100,000
